Gawker: ‘Armed Militia’ of Soldiers Plotted to Take Over Army Base, Assassinate Obama

-By John Cook

August 27, 2012- According to this four-paragraph Associated Press story that raises more questions than it answers, four soldiers based in Georgia hatched an "anarchist" plot to assassinate Barack Obama and take control of Fort Stewart, and then allegedly killed a fellow soldier to keep their plans secret.

According to the story—which will hopefully be updated in short order—one of the accused, Pfc. Michael Burnett, pleaded guilty today in a Long County, Georgia courtroom to the murder of his former comrade Michael Roark and Roark's 17-year-old girlfriend.

Burnett told a Long County judge that Roark, who had just left the Army, knew of the militia group's plans and was killed because he was "a loose end."

Augsut 27, 2012- LUDOWICI, Ga. — Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday.

Prosecutors in rural Long County, near the sprawling Army post Fort Stewart, said the militia group of active and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components. They allege the group was serious enough to kill two people – former soldier Michael Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York – by shooting them in the woods last December in order to keep its plans secret.

Talking Points Memo: Texas Judge Warns Of ‘Civil War, Maybe’ If Obama Wins

-By Nick R Martin

August 22, 2012- Texas Judge Tom Head is worried about what might happen if President Obama wins reelection in November. There could be riots, unrest or a “civil war, maybe,” he told a local television station this week.

Because of that, the Lubbock County judge has decided the only way to prepare is to increase taxes to help beef up local law enforcement.

“I’m thinking worst case scenario now,” Head said during an appearance on FOX 34 in Lubbock. “Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war, maybe. And we’re not talking just a few riots here and demonstrations, we’re talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy.”
